It is going to get a bit pinker around here...

I had my ultrasound yesterday to be sure the baby is growing on target and to find out the gender.  Growth looks good, averaging everything my EDD is off by just one day, but I think the doc will be leaving it as is for now.  The HB was 142.  I was nervous the baby would not cooperate because the umbilical cord has been between the legs, it was there again, but with some movement and a lot of checking back, the ultrasound technician confirmed we will be adding another girl to the family. :-) Now it's time to look at names!

The kids had their well checks today and Nikolai continues to be "above average" for height and weight (35 1/4" tall and 30 lbs.) and Katerina continues to be "a bit petite" for height and weight (32 3/4" and 25.6 lbs).  Other than that they got two shots each today.  As usual Katerina took them like a champ with little more than a whimper and Nikolai milked all the sympathy he could get.  We have to take them to get a CBC and allergy testing for Nikolai just to be sure he doesn't have any allergies like his sister since they are already taking some blood anyway.  Hopefully that will all come back looking good too.

We had a great trip to Iowa.  We saw LOTS of rain and the kids got to hold an umbrella for the first time.  They had fun at Grandma and Grandpa's but did not get to catch a fish this time (they were too impatient and did not want to share the fishing pole so maybe next summer.)  They did get to catch a frog and watch it hop back to the water which they thought was pretty cool.  Katerina loved meeting her cousins, the Kamps Triplets, mostly because their car seats were fun to play with. ;)  They both had fun playing with their cousin Megan too and meeting their new baby cousin Gretchen and playing with her big brother Noah for a little bit too.  While daddy was in Canada fishing with Grandpa the first week, the one day it didn't rain we went to Living History Farms.  The kids enjoyed it, and I got a good workout pushing their stroller on the trails.  Thank goodness uncle Scott was with to push the extra 60 lbs up the last hill!
